Opening Day

This is the beginning of the end. When the referee finally blows the whistle to kick off the first match of the 2010 World Cup later this afternoon, all the hype will start to reduce. It makes you feel like the teenage boy who so much desires to learn how to drive. Daddy tells him to wait until he is legally able to drive before hitting the streets. When he finally receives that document that gives him the authority to drive, he starts to look for new heights to explore.

That is Africa for you. We are already scaling new heights! Watch this space. It feels so sweet to have this World Cup in Africa. Since I am not in South Africa, let me go book myself a seat at the TV Room. Why, you can't enjoy the game watching it alone. Plus, you need some Kenyan tea and hot mandazi or roasted African peanuts to go with it!

May the best team, Bafana Bafana, win!
